Lane Farms Pumpkin Patch

Hayrides, farm animals, tractors, a maze through growing cornstalks, horse-drawn wagon rides, a talking scarecrow, gourds, corn and pounds and pounds of pumpkins can all be found at Lane Farms Pumpkin Patch on Walnut Lane off of Hollister Avenue, near the Magnolia Shopping Center. “Boo at the Zoo!,” a merry not-too-scary event for children 2-12 accompanied by an adult, will include traffic-free trick-or-treating, Trick and Treat Trail, Boo-Choo-Choo train rides, Boo 3-D!, Creepy Crawly animal encounters, Spooky Storytelling, Goblin Games, Costume Parades and Ghoulish Goodies each night. Sat. & Sun., Oct. 29 & 30

Haunted High (a walk-through haunted house with a high school format) will be open at 1235 Chapala St., the future site of the Santa Barbara Teen Center. Children of all ages are invited to come and celebrate Halloween with City of Santa Barbara-sponsored spooks and surprises, twists and turns, from 6:30-9:30 p.m. For more information, call 897-2650.

A Day of the Dead Trunk Show will take place today and tomorrow, 10:00 a.m.-5 p.m., at the at the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History. Colorful hand-painted papier-mâché skulls, bobble-head skeletons, humorous clay skeletons, Mexican pottery and sugar skull molds are among the folk art works on sale. “Addams Family Reunion-Episode III” Murder Mystery-Recreation

The Taproom in Buellton will host this murder mystery event starting at 6 p.m. The action takes place in the audience with guests becoming part of the show, which will include dinner and show. PEP’s Annual Children’s Costume Parade will take place at 11 a.m. beginning at State and Anapamu streets and moving down to De la Guerra Plaza. Bring the whole family and show off everyone’s costumes, enjoy safe trick or treating downtown immediately following the event and check out the Safety Fair in De La Guerra Plaza after the parade, too. A major Halloween Party will take place at the Calle Real Center, with free fun for the whole family, including a costume contest, face painting, pony rides, jumpies, a fire truck, radio DJs, candy and coupons for costumed trick-or-treaters and costume photos at Goleta Camera Center from 3-6 p.m.


Ghosts and Goblins, Oh My!

Sight Night on Halloween
Used eyeglasses will be collected by volunteers on Halloween Night in conjunction with the Lions Sight and Hearing Center of Santa Barbara. Sight Night is part of an annual, national collection drive, after which eyeglasses are recycled and sent to developing countries for people who cannot afford them. Volunteers will come to people’s doors looking for all types of prescription and non-prescription glasses and sunglasses, large or small, fashionably “in” or “out,” for adults or children. Used eyeglasses may also be dropped off all year at the Goleta Library, 500 N. Fairview Ave. For more information about Sight Night or other drop off locations, call 569-8264.

The Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation is hosting an event for all Halloween loving kids and their families from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Montecito Union School. The Halloween Festival will include entertainment and activities and an opportunity for kids to wear their costumes all day long. Santa Barbara Contemporary Arts Forum presents the “Black and Orange Bash - Noches de los Muertos” at the County Courthouse from 8 p.m. to midnight. The event features “Living Art,” a processional of contemporary artists in costumes of their own creation, and “The Tower of Terror,” a tour of the haunted courthouse tower. The night also includes a costume contest with a $1,000 grand prize and a dance party with DJ Scott Topper. Mexican appetizers and festive drinks will be available.
