The Queen of Alt-Country and pure harmony comes to townThe popular singer-songwriter series, Sings Like Hell have joined forces with UCSB Arts & Lectures to present Emmylou Harris and Buddy Miller in concert at the Arlington Theatre at 8 p.m. Tuesday, September 27. Blessed with an angel’s voice, Emmylou Harris blends folk, country and pop into magical music all her own. From her days with Gram Parsons to her shimmering alt-country classic “Wrecking Ball,” Harris has enjoyed a legendary career that has earned her Billboard magazine’s prestigious Century Award in 1999. The eleven-time Grammy-winner will be joined by frequent associate guitarist/singer Buddy Miller. This very special show is co-presented by Sings Like Hell and UCSB Arts & Lectures and sponsored by the Goleta Valley Voice, Metropolitan Theatres Corporation, Borders and KCBX Public Radio. Concert tickets are $65 and $45 for the general public and $25 for UCSB students who must show valid ID at ticket purchase and the evening of the show. Direct from the Monterey Jazz Festival, the Pat Metheny Trio plays the Lobero a 8 p.m. Friday, September 23, in an extremely rare jazz performance, featuring stellar sidemen Christian McBride on bass and Antonio Sanchez on drums. PCPA does Sinatra ‘My Way’ PCPA TheaterFest’s production of “My Way,” a musical tribute to Frank Sinatra will move from Santa Maria to the Festival Theater in Solvang this Friday, September 23, where it will run until October 9. “My Way is a hip and swinging trip through Frank Sinatra’s immortal songbook. This acclaimed musical tribute features 55 unforgettable tunes made popular by “Old Blue Eyes.” Selections include “All the Way,” “The Lady is a Tramp,” “Strangers in the Night,” and many, many more. The show was conceived by David Grapes and Todd Olson, with a book by Todd Olson, who also directed the original production. The PCPA production was directed and choreographed by Michael La Fleur, and stars Teressa Byrne, Michael Jenkinson, Elizabeth Stuart, and David Studwell.
