It’s carnival time in Goleta schools again, and these La Patera School students are just a few of the hundreds of children and other family members who had a great time at their school’s recent carnival. Having a wild time in the “Foam Pit” are, from left, Briana Leos, Maribel Cruz, Stephanie Marquez, Jeovane Avila, Gabe Sanchez and John Vercota. Other highlights of the event included delicious barbecued meals donated by Sunny Buttler and Calle Real’s Outback Steakhouse, whose employees also donated their time. Funds raised annually from the carnival’s food help defray expenses of sixth grade science camp at Catalina Island Marine Institute.
