| Chumash donate $10,000 to Foodbank The Santa Ynez band of Chumash Indians donated $10,000 to the Foodbank of Santa Barbara County this month. Erik Talkin, Executive Director of the Foodbank, said the funds will be used not only to buy food for those in need through the holiday period, but also in the lean period of January and February. He said that the Foodbank has already seen a 25-30 percent increase in need. “In the days when some of our own tribal members used resources like the Foodbank, our tribe still donated by volunteering,” said Vincent Armenta, Tribal Chairman. “Today, we are grateful to be in a position to financially assist organizations that were there for us in our time of need.” Goleta Valley planning agency invites participation Information regarding the GVPAC and its meetings is available here. Rain, fog, wind and snow can create hazardous conditions, Sgobba said, encouraging every motorist traveling through the mountains to carry chains in their vehicle. The CHP will have every available officer on the road the entire holiday driving period, which ends at midnight Sunday.
